what's the easiest way to contribute?
Payroll deduction is by far the most convenient method of contribution if your company has payroll deduction available. A small amount is taken from your paycheck each pay period, allowing you to make a small contribution each week that can make a big difference in the course of a year. Many companies also offer a matching gift for your contribution so be sure to inquire with your employer in order to leverage additional support for your community.

are all united ways the same?
There are approximately 1,400 United Ways across the country that exist in their respective communities to build partnerships and leverage resources to create plans for long lasting community change. Each United Way must adhere to strict Membership Standards of transparency and accountability set by United Way Worldwide and must comply with all financial requirements of the Internal Revenue Service.
Though United Ways share a logo and have similar missions, each United Way is independently incorporated and is led by local staff and volunteers. The work of each United Way is determined locally. Our Board of Trustees and Crawford County Advisory Council are comprised of local volunteers. The United Way of Perry County’s focus is on Health, Education, and Financial Stability. In addition to supporting organizations who are working in these areas, United Way of Perry County coordinates seven direct service programs in Perry County.
1) Holiday Helpers United – This program is a collaboration of many organizations that provide Christmas Assistance. United Way of Perry County serves as the clearinghouse for all persons needing help during the Christmas holiday season.
2) Youth Day of Caring – Each year the United Way of Perry County coordinates projects and recruits youth organizations to do hands-on work in the community for many different non-profit organizations.
3) “Stuff the Bus” School Supply Drive – Every summer, United Way volunteers partner with Wal-Mart in Tell City and Corydon to collect school supplies for local school children.
4) Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library – This early literacy program provides free books each month for all children in Perry County who are 0-5. United Way of Perry County is the “Local Champion” for this program and raises all the funds to pay for all the books.
5) FamilyWize Prescription Discount Card Program – These free cards can help provide a discount on medications if a family does not have prescription insurance or if a person’s insurance does not cover that type of medication. Cards are available at United Way office or may be downloaded from the Home page of this website.

Yes! The United Way of Perry County is a 501 (c) (3) organization under the Internal Revenue Service tax code. All donations to United Way of Perry County and United Way of Crawford County are tax deductible.

what if I don't want my money to go to a certain organization?
Not every organization appeals to every donor, but all of our Community Partner organizations have met the meticulous standards of our United Way and meet the needs of our focus areas of Health, Education, and Financial Stability. If you like, you may designate to any of our approved Community Partners that fit your interests.
